Mr. Jesse Lee Underwood, age 94, of 4120 Westover Dr., Lot#30, Danville, VA, passed away on Sunday, May 07 2017 at Danville Regional Medical Center.

He was born on October 16, 1922, in Danville, VA, to the late Charlie Underwood and Margaret Edwards Underwood.

Before his retirement, Mr. Underwood worked in the maintenance department at Dan River Mills, as a fixer, and he attended Westover Church of God. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Underwood is survived by his wife, Ellen Boyd Underwood, of Danville, VA; son Charles Underwood, of Morehead City, NC; and grandchildren, Jimmy Underwood, Jr. and Daniel Underwood.

In addition to his parents Mr. Underwood was predeceased by his sons, Robert Lee Underwood and Jimmy Marvin Underwood; brother, Roy Underwood; and sister, Etta Bowers.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p .m. on Friday, May 12, 2017at Danville Memorial Gardens with Dr. Joe Hopkins officiating. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Swicegood Funeral Home.
