Lillian Vaden

Lillian Vaden, of Danville, VA, beloved Sister and Aunt passed away on June 03, 2019, at Sovah-Danville.

 94 years old, she was born on January 1, 1925, in Danville, VA, a daughter of the late Grover A. Vaden and Beulah Ingram Vaden.

She worked for Dan River Inc. Home Fashions at Hylton Hall for 31 years prior to her retirement.

Lillian was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of Schoolfield Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Oglesby and Nan Davidson; brothers, Herman Vaden and Eddie Vaden; a brother-in-law, Otha “Squeeky” Goodman.

Ms. Vaden is survived by a sister, Mary Goodman of Danville, brother-in-law Vince Oglesby of Danville, and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Vaden of Nashville, TN; she is also lovingly remembered by twelve nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Lillian loved to read, work jigsaw and word search puzzles, and cook. She also received many compliments on her flower gardens which she loved to grow. She enjoyed traveling and visited several foreign countries, as well as travel throughout the U.S. Although she never married, she was blessed with a large and loving family who thought of her as a second Mom.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., at Swicegood Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of her sister, 350 Annhurst Dr., Danville, VA.

Her funeral will be conducted Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. David Turbyfill officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Schoolfield Baptist Church, 12 Schoolfield Dr. Danville, VA, 24541.
