Mrs. Linda Stuart Martin Winstead, age 87, of Danville, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Roman Eagle Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the last survivor of her generation.
She was born on August 31, 1932, in Danville, VA, to the late William Spurgeon Martin and Lois Carter Hatchett.
Mrs. Winstead was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sibling. In addition, she was a charter member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Also, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, a Circle Leader, and President of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her children, Clark Winstead (Karen); Carolyn Winstead Bagley (Will); Philip Winstead; Charles Winstead all of Danville, VA; and Ellen Winstead Gould (Dave), of Nashville, TN; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winstead was predeceased by her husband, Therit Winstead; grandson, Adam Winstead; and siblings, James Jefferson Martin “Jolly Jim,” Peggy Ann Martin, and William Martin, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Hannah officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her daughter, Carolyn Bagley, 172 Angie Rd., Danville, VA.
