Louise Hill Nowlin, age 95, of 755 Compton Rd. Providence, NC, passed away on Monday June 12, 2017, at Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in health.

Mrs. Nowlin was born on July 10, 1921, in Leaksville, NC, a daughter of the late Willie Gray Hill and Annie Mae Smith Hill. She lived most of her life in Florida where she was a secretary for Monsanto Chemical Company. She was very active in the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and was a volunteer for hospice and Sacred Heart Hospital. Mrs. Nowlin was an avid golfer and loved bowling.

Mrs. Nowlin is survived by her daughter, Brenda N. Johnston (Richard) of the residence; grandchildren, Laura Heaton Thompson (Roy), of Blanch, NC, William Russell Johnston of Providence, NC, Stephanie J. Eggleston, of Richmond, VA, and Julius Johnston (Ashley) of New York, NY; great grandchildren, Ryan Cole Thompson, Jameson Anne Johnston and Julianne Johnston, all of Providence, NC; sisters, Dorothy Treadway McBride of Stoneville, NC, Marcia Hill Rudd of Burlington, NC and Minnie Jane Giles of Pensacola, FL; and one brother, Henry Ivory Hill of Browns Summit, NC.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a brother, W. G. Hill, Jr.; and one sister, Virginia Mebane.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Purley United Methodist Church with the Reverend Howard James officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
