Mabel Pugh Snead

Mrs. Mabel Pugh Snead, age 73, of 769 Oak Hill Road, - Danville, departed this life for her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at her residence.  She was born in Renan, VA on May 15, 1946, one of triplets, of the late Edger Pugh and Mary Flossie Shelton Pugh.  Mrs. Snead retired from Corning Glass Works, Inc., and later retired from Professional Transportation, Inc.  She was a past member the North Danville Church of Christ and was an avid artist.  On July 3, 1971 she married Jerrie J. Snead who survives her of the home.   In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snead was predeceased by a daughter, Janice Snead, and  her siblings, Grady Pugh, Morgan Pugh and Bobbi P. George.    In addition to her husband, she is survived by her adopted daughter, Elizabeth Ann Carey, a special niece, Beth Ann Riggleman, and her sisters, Mae Surber, Peggy Brown, Judy Sprouse, Sadie Martin, Gladys Pugh, Ruby Jane Grishaw, and Margaret Ennis.  Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Snead will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday,  June 30, 2019, at Barker Funeral Home  Chapel with Dr. Charles B. Scearce  officiating.  Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019.  The family respectfully request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital,  262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
