Matthew Morgan Obituary

Mr. Matthew Arron Morgan, age 65, of 201 Kings Ct., Dannville, VA, passed away on Friday, Febuary 09,  2018 at his residence after a brief illnesses.

He was born on January 08, 1953, in Washington, D.C. to the late Marshall Morgan, Sr. and Margaret J.A. Morgan.

Mr. Morgan was disabled and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Xenia Morgan; grandchildren: Anthony Morgan, Alesha Tarver, Avia Morgan, and Ashley Morgan; great-children: Ka’Mari Powell, Gabriel Tarver, Samyiah Luck, Romelo Davidson, , Dehaven Stamps, and Leah Reid; siblings: Catherine Elbert, Demetrice Black, Mark Morgan, Marsha Morgan-Austin, Michael Morgan, Sr., Margaret Morgan, Michelle Morgan, Myron Morgan, and a host of family and friends.

In addition to his parents Mr. Morgan was predeceased by his brother, Marshall Morgan, Jr.

Mr. Matthew Morgan was educated in the D.C. Public school system. Attended the historic Dunbar Senior High School, Washington, D.C., where he played football and other varsity sports. He attended the Federal City College, now the University of the District of Columbia (UDC).  Mr. Morgan earned a certificate in electronics from the George Washington University Electronic Technician School. He possessed a wealth of knowledge and experience in computer and electronic repair.

Mr. Morgan worked at the U.S. Postal Service, Government Printing Office, U.S. Department of Labor, Baltimore City Government, and the Disabled American Veterans – Baltimore, MD.

The viewing will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM and a memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Swicegood-Barker Funeral Home; 564 West Main St., Danville, VA 24541 with Elder Corey Williams. A repast will be held after the service at the residence of his granddaughter, Avia Morgan at 216 Old Mayfield Rd., Danville.
