Mildred Walker Hopkins, age 97, of Danville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Blue Ridge Health and Rehab Center in Martinsville, VA.
She was born on June 2, 1922, in Danville, VA, a daughter of the late Clarence Walker and Carmen Huff Walker.
Mrs. Hopkins worked at Corning Glass as an inspector, and she was a member of Riveroak Church of God.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Wright and husband, David, of Stuart, VA; and son, Mark Hopkins and wife, Vera, of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Hannah Hopkins, Sarah Hopkins, Mariah Hopkins, Norah Hopkins, Kim Spencer (Roger), Sharon Mills (Del), Dwayne Wright (Alecia), and Adam Wright (Pam); eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Elaine Gunn.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hopkins was predeceased by her husband, Wayne L. Hopkins; and siblings: Clarence Walker Jr., Garland Walker, Clara Owen, and Gwen Thurman.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Highland Burial Park with Rev. David Turyfill officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home.
