Nancy Jean (Bray) Goforth

Mrs. Nancy Jean (Bray) Goforth, age 77, of 155 Hartford St., Danville, VA, passed away on October 31, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Goforth was born on February 2, 1941, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, to the late Henry Bray and Elsie Chattin Bray.She worked in retail at King’s Department Store and Big Lots and later retired from Commonwealth Pharmacy where she worked for her special friend Jeff Rodden. Nancy was also a member of Sheldon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Goforth is survived by her beloved husband, John Goforth, Sr. of the home; daughter, Linda Gerrells and husband Fred of Danville, VA; son, Jay Goforth of Danville, VA; brother, Carl Wayne Bray of Reidsville, NC; three sisters, Janice Sharpe, Vickie Bray, both of Reidsville, NC, and Wendy LaFlamme of Danville, VA; five grandchildren, Allison Dudley, Amy Newman, Bryan Gerrells, Ashley Gerrells, and Tyler Gerrells; seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Goforth was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Henry and Norman Bray.

 Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 2, 2018 at Swicegood Funeral Home at 2 PM with Dr. Timothy Anderson and Pastor Brian Edwards officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will receive friends and family at other times at the residence, 155 Hartford St., Danville, VA 24540. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank her sister, Wendy LaFlamme and special friend Peggy Jones for their love and care during her last days.
