Mr. Richard Eugene Dalton, age 86, of 135 Oak Creek Drive, Danville, VA, passed away on Saturday, August 05, 2017 at Danville Regional Medical Center.

He was born on September 6, 1930, in Coolwell, VA, to the late Benjamin Fred Dalton and Annie Earl Dalton.

Mr. Dalton was a previous Part-owner of Wise-Hundley, the Owner/Operator of Dalton Thrift shop located at the Ringgold Flea Market and he was also a member as well as a Sunday School Teacher at Stokesland Baptist Church for many years.

He is survived by his brother, James Billy Dalton and his wife Patsy; one nephew, Jimmy Dalton; and his beloved sister-in-law and companion/care-taker, Clara Adams.

 In addition to his parents Mr. Dalton was predeceased by his beloved wife, Polly Gravely Dalton; two brothers, Thomas Byrd Dalton and Fred Langston Dalton; and one sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Gravely.

The family would like to give special thanks to Clara Adams for being such a devoted sister-in-law and companion to Richard.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 7, 2017 at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Chuck Vickers officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday night, August 6, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.
