Roger Lee Rigney, superintendent for Piedmont Acoustic & Const., and life-long resident of Pittsylvania County, VA, died unexpectedly on December 17, 2018 at the age of 65. Roger is survived by his sisters, Margaret Rigney, Linda Echols, and Angela Rigney, and one brother, Thomas D. Rigney. Roger is predeceased by his parents John Herman Rigney, and Beulah Light Rigney; sister Carolyn Rigney Gammon; and brothers Johnny R. Rigney, and Timothy E. Rigney. Roger was born in Danville on March 30th 1953. He graduated from Tunstall High School in 1970. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served his country from 1972-1976. Roger was a devoted brother, and great person to know. He was a hard worker his entire life, and was a movie buff in his spare time. He loved coffee, Camel cigarettes, and a good tall cold one. He was raised in and was a member of Brosville United Methodist Church. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. A memorial service is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on December 20, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home in Danville with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Gary Pierson of Lighthouse Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Barker Funeral Home, 2025 N Main St, Danville, VA 24540.
