Mrs. Sarah Gayle Harrell, age 82, of Pelham, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Hospice Home of Alamance, after a brief illness.

She was born on March 24, 1935, in Danville, VA, to the late Raymond I. Scearce and Zelda B. Scearce.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Harrell worked as an LPN at Danville Memorial Hospital, Annie Penn Memorial Hospital, and the North Carolina Department of Corrections for a total of 43 years in the nursing field, and she attended New Heights Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Harrell; daughter, Tina Crowder ; son, Thomas Turner Jr. (Christine); sisters, Cherrie Crousse and Patti Reynolds; brother, Mark G. Scearce; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and step-children: Angel King, Tina Hall, and Donald Harrell, Jr.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Harrell was predeceased by brothers, Arnold B. Scearce and Raymond W. Scearce; three sisters, Carolyn Scearce, Judy Brooks, and Zelda Soyars and grandchild, Tamara Turner.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home with Pastor Milton Farmer and Pastor Harold Venable officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
