Mr. Wesley Calvin Bernard died on Friday, January 18, 2019, after being in declining health for several years.
He was born on June 07, 1926, in Franklin Co., VA, to the late Walter Creed Bernard and Martha McBride Bernard. Wesley served in the Navy during WWII from which he drew many stories to tell friends and family. He was proud of his service to his country. He graduated from Danville Technical Institute, after the war. Wesley was employed as a mechanic in Danville auto dealerships and farmed in the Mountain Hill section of Caswell County.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Bernard and his wife, Michelle; and Lawrence Bernard and his wife, Meredith; five grandchildren, Luke (Alison), Bryan (Vanessa), Travis (Hillary), Wesley, and Austin; and two great-grandchildren, Eli and Ivy.
In addition to his parents, Wesley was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Bernard; and sisters, Christine Bernard Steele and Sarah Bernard Hall.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Swicegood Funeral Home. The family will receive family and friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the residence. A family internment will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. on the farm.
