Alice Shelby (Knowles) Barnes

Mrs. Alice Shelby Barnes, age 85, of Danville, VA, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at SOVAH Health-Danville.

She was born on November 04, 1936, in Draper, NC, to the late John Wesley Knowles and Mary Frances Stewart Knowles

Mrs. Barnes was a homemaker, and she was a member of Central Blvd Church of God. She served 42 years in the ministry.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Kenneth W. Barnes; children: Robin Moore (Clyde); David Barnes (Cherie); and Melody Robinson (Phillip); grandchildren; Justin and Matthew Moore; and Lindsey and Megan Barnes; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy and Stewart Knowles; and sisters, Essel Leigh and Lisa Gammon.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnes was predeceased by her brothers, J. D. and Pete Knowles.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. John Meadows officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022.  Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 134 Ireson St., Danville, VA.
