Arthur Thomas Christiansen II February 6, 1941 - April 17, 2023 IN THE CARE OF Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory Arthur Thomas Christiansen Jr. Passed away Peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2023 in Bradenton FL. Chris was preceded in death by his parents Arthur T. Christiansen Sr. and Margaret McQuade Christiansen, his sister Ann Marilyn Christiansen Buberger, his wife Frances Howard Thurman Christiansen, and his son Arthur Thomas Christiansen III. Chris was born in Queens, NY, and grew up in Brooklyn with his sister Ann Marilyn Christiansen. Chris graduated from Holy Cross High School in Bayside NY, where he was a star basketball player before leaving for the US Army at age 18, where he served in the prestigious Honor Guard, training to protect the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ft Myer, VA. Two years later Chris joined the Arlington County Police Department serving with distinction as a motorcycle officer with a band of great guys known collectively as the F Troop. Chris also served the schools as a DARE officer, served in vice, as a detective and retired as Deputy Chief. During his time on the force he also attended American University in Washington, DC receiving a degree in Criminal Justice. Chris married Frances Howard Thurman on January 15, 1961 and together they had one son, Arthur Thomas Christiansen III, joining her son Michael Donovan Snead. In 1967, Chris moved his family from Arlington to Vienna, VA. Chris always had a love for life and his wife of 53 years, Frances. Chris was no nonsense, straight forward man with a sense of humor and a gift for athletics. After retirement Chris and Frances moved from Vienna to Bradenton, FL and started traveling the country and the world together. Chris also reconnected with the Church and family took on great importance as the family grew with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The warmth and happiness shared during weeks of summer fun will be remembered lovingly by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Chris had spirit, warmth, and humor, and his love will be carried on by his family. The love he has expressed has touched and will continue to touch all of those who knew him especially his son Michael, daughter in law Tricia and his grandchildren, Michele Kristin Snead, Kimberly Dawn Snead, Michael Donovan Snead Jr, and Reggie Dustin Snead and great grandchildren Phillip Bryan Gilbert, Jocelynn Marie Sine and Paige Brianna Pellettiere, and nephews and nieces Edward John Buberger Jr., Kerrie Ann Buberger Fancher, Lynn Marie Buberger Rokes (Mark) and Robert Francis Buberger (Teather). Visitation and service will be held on May 20th, noon and 1 pm respectively with burial of Cremains to follow at Mount View Cemetery.
