Barbara Ellen (Steele) Baise

Barbara Ellen Steele Baise, 80, of Pelham, NC, departed this world on July 9th, 2023 at her residence, She was born in Pittsylvania county on December 16th ,1942 the daughter of the late Whorley Steele and Christine Steele.

She spent her early married life traveling with her husband, John Baise, who served in the Navy. Barbara and John later settled and resided in Pelham. She honored her husband and children as a homemaker. Barbara attended Pelham United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and the beauty of birds. 

Barbara is predeceased by her sister, Margie Meeks and her grandson, Anthony Whitten. 

Mrs. Baise is survived by her husband, John; her children, Mark Baise (Teresa), Wanda Whitten; her grandchildren; Daniel Whitten, Emily Reynolds (Caleb) , Jessica Baise; three great grandchilden (Addelyn, Finley, and Caiden) her sisters, Betty Davis, Novalene Eanes (Doyle), Dianne Goodman, Linda Poteat (Wayne), Connie Overby, Kathy Steele,

Carolyn Steele, Patsy Mancha (Eddie); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. 

Barbara was a hardworking woman who loved the saying “a man can work from sun up to sun down, but a woman’s work is never done.” Barbara loved her family and her sisters. She will be greatly missed, but we know on Friday nights she will be fellowshipping with her Mama in heaven. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Pelham United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Durham and Rev. Cameron Conover officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 1:30 at the church prior. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
