Bobby Gene Huffman, age 46, gave up his earthly fight at SOVAH Health - Danville and transitioned to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 23, 2022, after many years of battling courageously with Lupus.
Bobby was born on November 25, 1975. He was born in Danville, and raised by his Moma, Goma and Papa.
He is survived by his wife: Dawn Huffman; daughter, Sherri Rigney (Jerry); sons, Darel Dunkley (Brandy) and James Dickerson (Brooke); granddaughter, Izabella; mother, Cindy Owen; brothers, Billy Ray Huffman (Anna) and Jimmy Owen (Shankink). Great nieces/nephews: Cameron, Paige, Charlie, and Lauryn; Papa, Rev. William Bates; aunt, Angela Morris (Mike); cousins, Carrie, Dara, D.J., and Andie; special friend, I.C. Jones; father, Bobby Ray Huffman; aunt, Shirley Waller; uncles, Wayne Huffman and Eddie Huffman; and a number of great aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his Goma, Betty Bates; aunts, Micki Mumford and Billie Keats; grandmother, Mary Huffman; uncles, Thomas, Willie, and Michael Huffman.
Bobby was employed with Northside Tire and Battery until his Lupus diagnosis and began fighting the battle of his body attacking itself. He never gave up and did what he could every day. No matter how bad he felt if you asked him for help, he would show up and do what he could.
A celebration service for Bobby’s life & homegoing will be held Sunday, June 26th at 3:00 p.m. at Stokesland Baptist Church, 130 Taylor St. Danville, VA. Family visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at other times at Papa’s house, 640 Edmonds St., Danville, VA.
