Mr. Danny Wade Gammon, age 71, of 235 Stone Ridge Drive, passed away May 2, 2021 at VA Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Born on August 22, 1949, he was the son of the late Norman “Duke” Oakes Gammon and Annie Mildred Moss Gammon.
Mr. Gammon graduated from Stoney Mill School in Brosville and was inducted into the Army on July 15, 1969. He served in Vietnam where he received 2 bronze stars along with several other medals. He was later employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber where he retired after 30 years of service. He was a man who trusted in the Lord and was a member of Brosville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edith Gauldin Gammon of the residence; five stepchildren who he loved like his own, Sandra Gregory of Danville, Stephen Slade (wife, Samantha Slade) of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Debbie Gauldin of Danville, Mark Slade of Chatham, and Lisa Slade Wells (husband, Gregory Wells) of Gibsonville, North Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Cliff Gammon and John Gammon; and sisters, Mary Nell Hanks and Vickie Gammon Cassell.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Kay Gammon, Fay Gammon, Samuel Gammon, Phillip Gammon, Franklin Gammon, Joyce Holt, Carl Gammon, Andrew Gammon, and Lois Sherril.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 2 PM in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Intek Oh officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date in the Gammon Family Cemetery on Vandola Road in Danville.
