David John Jarrett, 71, of Cascade, Va passed away on September 12, 2023 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
David was born on November 20, 1951 to the late Otis H. Jarrett and Mary Jane Munford Jarrett. He attended G.W. High School in Danville, Va. During his senior year, David voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received his high school diploma from Matthew C. Perry High School in Japan on July 11, 1975. After his military service he worked for Dan River Mills and attended DCC, where he earned his diploma in Analyst Electronics. He then worked for CP&L in South Carolina and North Carolina for many years before moving on to GNC and then finally retired from Hanes Brands in Eden, NC.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents and four sisters; Rosa Lee Scearce, Gracie Catherine Phelps, Ruth Jarrett and Sally Jarrett and one niece Mary Katherine Jarrett.
He is survived by two sisters, Martha Pickeral & her husband Benny and Linda McDaniel & her husband William all of Dry Fork, Va and one brother Otis H. Jarrett Jr. & his wife Linda of Danville, Va. Several nieces and newphews.
He is also survived by his 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; Kenneth R. Jarrett of Dry Fork, David (DJ) Jarrett of the home, James Jarrett, Kristina Jarrett and her son Christian of Eden, NC and Delane Curry and Gary Grogan, their children: I. Hunter Curry, Candace S. Grogan and Mary Catherine Curry and her children Gabriel, Chloe, Devin and Ariella Grace.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Danville National Cemetery.
