David Johnson Wray

Mr. David Johnson Wray, age 81, of Providence, NC, passed away on March 04, 2023 at SOVAH Health—Danville.

He was born on June 08, 1941, in Caswell County, NC, to the late Johnson Wray and Viola Saunders Wray.

Before his retirement, Mr. Wray worked at Dan River Mills for 25 yrs. and he later worked at IEM Plastics in Reidsville, NC. Also, he farmed for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Adkins Wray, of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Mike Alderson, of Pelham, NC; grandsons, Andrew Alderson (Emily) and Tyler Alderson (Heather), both of Pelham, NC; great-grandchildren, Kaylin; AJ; Connor; Sarah; and Natalie Alderson, all of Pelham; and brother, Cecil Wray, of Reidsville.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wray was predeceased by brother, Neil Wray.

Daddy you worked hard at Dan River and farming tobacco to buy your own farm. When you stopped growing tobacco you started raising grandchildren, all you ever wanted was a place for your family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 09, 2023 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Blevins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 08, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
