Dorothy Adkins

Dorothy Adkins, age 89, of Danville, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 14, 2022, at Sovah Health Danville.

Dorothy was born on May 29, 1933, in Danville, Virginia, to the late James Hankins and Virgie Jones Hankins.    

Dorothy lived her entire life in Danville, Virginia and was a homemaker.

Dorothy is survived by her children, James W. Adkins, Peggy A. Warren, and Joyce M. Scearce; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; brother, Billy Hankins; and sister Barbara Stallings, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Grover William Adkins; son, Ricky Adkins; grandson, Michael Scearce; sisters, Betty Testerman, and Ima Mae Teague; brothers, Thomas Hankins, Carroll Hankins, and Henry Lee Hankins.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday June 17, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Swicegood Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Ashby officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will follow at Floral Hill Memorial Gardens in Ringgold, Virginia.
