Edith Marie (Gillie) Giles

Mrs. Edith Marie Gillie Giles, age 94, of Ringgold, VA, passed away on Friday, February 05, 2021, at Sovah Health-Danville.

Mrs. Giles was born on January 12, 1927, a daughter of the late, William Butler Gillie and Lelia French Gillie.  On April 20, 1946, she married Oscar Champ Giles who preceded her in death on July 23, 2019. Marie was a homemaker and a devoted farmer’s wife. Over the years she was a babysitter for many children in the Ringgold area that affectionately called her “Granny”. Granny was a wonderful cook who spent many hours in the kitchen. Her homemade macaroni and cheese, icebox fruitcake, and banana pudding made lasting memories.

Mrs. Giles is survived by her daughters, Judy Buntin (Watson) of Danville, Linda Carol Luck (Bobby) of Danville, Janice Giles (fiancé, Tony Setliff) of Ringgold and Kimberly Sally (Garey) of Danville; grandchild, Angela Hughes Frazier (Jody); and great-grandchildren, Zachary Brinkley, Kaitlyn Brinkley, Matthew Frazier, and Michael Frazier.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Giles was predeceased by her brother, Wilbur Gillie and infant sister, Marion Estelle Gillie.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Reverend Carl Burger officiating.
