Edna Mae (Hensley) Shelton

Edna Hensley Shelton, 92, of Keeling, VA passed away on Monday, Aug 2nd at her home.

Born April 15, 1929 in Erwin, TN, she was the daughter of Donald Shelton and Delphia Hensley who preceded her in death.

She was married to the late Isaac E Shelton on Oct. 11, 1945.

Edna, lovingly known as Nana by many, left behind a family of four children, JD Shelton (Gloria), Gladys S Roach (Ernest), Bernice Moore (L.C.) and Mike Shelton (Cindy). She had six grandchildren, Lynette Farley, Daniel Moore, Tammy Shelton, Tina Mell, Jonathan Shelton and John David “Gooch” Shelton (who preceded her in death); twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She had a number of nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

This beautiful soul opened her heart and home to all who came near. She loved to provide for others. She cooked gravy and biscuits daily. There was Sunday lunch for all until she was unable to continue. If you walked in the door, there was coffee in the pot, green Kool-Aid in the fridge and leftovers on the stove no matter the time of day. She picked vegetables and fruit each summer to can to share with her family. She quilted, cross stitched and hemmed. She loved her flowers and feeding the birds.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021 at 11 am at Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Carl Burger officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence 1192 Oak Grove Road Keeling, VA.
