Eliza Virginia Collins

Miss E. Virginia Collins, age 85, of Danville, Va., formerly of 203 Northmont Boulevard, departed her earthly life on Friday, May 12, 2023.
She was born on January 25, 1938, in Dry Fork, Va., to the late L.D. Collins and Itasker (Ila) Shelton Collins.
Virginia graduated from George Washington High School in 1957, as an honor student. Following her graduation, she began her lifelong career in the legal field. She retired in 1999, after having worked as a legal assistant to the City Attorney of Danville for 39 years. Flower gardening and seasonal decorating brought Virginia much joy in the years following her retirement.
Miss Collins was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, in Dry Fork, Va., and later in life become a friend and attendee of Trinity United Methodist Church, in Danville, Va.
Virginia is survived by her brother, Melvin James Collins (Shirley) of Danville, Va.; niece, Priscilla Collins Harris of Danville, Va.; grandniece, Casey Paige Harris of Ringgold, Va.; nephew, Zachary Tyler Harris (Brooke) of Ringgold, Va.; and great-grandnieces, Madelyn Grace Bowen and Amelia Faith Bowen of Ringgold, Va.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her sister, Elaine Collins Smith and her brother, David Thomas Collins.
A special thanks to her loving caregiver, Tiffany Russell and to Nayar Health Care and Hospice nurses and aides.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Barbara Cousar officiating. The family will receive friends, after the service at the graveside. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her brother, Melvin Collins, 206 Meadowbrook Dr., Danville, Va.
