Elizabeth Garrett Andrews

Mrs. Elizabeth Garrett Andrews, age 83, of Danville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2021 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.

She was born on August 24, 1938, in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late John Sam Garrett and Helen Adkins Garrett Oakes.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Oakes worked in Dan River Mills as a weaver. She was a member of County Line Christian Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Smith, of Danville, VA and Carla Corum (Ronald), of Eden, NC; grandchildren: Elizabeth Carter (Tim); Ashley Smith; Christy Evans (Mike); and Bridget French (Bryant); great-grandchildren: James Smith (Mindy); Cheyenne Love; Aaliyah Smith; Robbie Odum; Bailey Redd; Braxton French; and Brystal French; great-great grandchildren: Dean Masters and Layla Smith; and brother, Claiborne Garrett (Phyllis).

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Andrews was predeceased by her husband on January 28, 2020; daughter, Sharon Evans; son, David Andrews, Jr.; granddaughter, Kimberly Evans.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at County Line Christian Church Cemetery with Pastor Dean Ashby officiating. Mrs. Andrews will lie in state at Barker Funeral Home on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 320 Guilford Street, Danville, VA 24540.
