Mrs. Frances Barber Hobbs, age 91, of Pelham, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 23, 2021 at SOVAH Health of Danville.
Mrs. Hobbs was born on January 13, 1930, in Caswell County, North Carolina, to the late Beveley Thomas Barber and Bertha Towler Barber. She lived most of her life in Pelham and worked at Creighton Shirt Factory in Reidsville, North Carolina until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Lively Stones Baptist Church. On July 2, 1951, Mrs. Hobbs married her loving husband, Harry Lee Hobbs, Jr. who preceded her in death. Just like all of her sisters, she loved cooking.
Mrs. Hobbs is survived by her children, Timothy Lee Hobbs (Angela) and Tyrone Hobbs (Lesia); brother, Swanson Barber; sister-in-law, Shirley Barber, grandchildren, Chris Hobbs (Tammy), Shannon Brown, Ryan Hobbs; and great-grandchildren, Alanna Brown, Karleigh Hobbs, and Kenzie Hobbs.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Tonya Hobbs Brown; siblings, Ruby Barber Vaughan, Kermit Barber (Connie), Gatrel Barber Hyler (Martin), Sterley Barber (Mamie), Nanie Barber, Ernest Barber (Carrie), Clinton Barber (Priscilla), Gladys Barber Tucker, Willard Barber, Raymond Barber (Brenda) , and Betty “Jean” Barber Blakeman (Kenny) ; and sister-in-law, Ruby Barber.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 3 PM at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Hammock officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM in the church fellowship hall prior to service.
