Ike Douglas Johnson

Ike Douglas “Doug” Johnson,  age 80 of 2449 Shady Grove Rd., Providence, NC passed away July 14, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

Mr. Johnson was born September 4, 1942 to the late Isaac “Ike” Johnson and the late Virginia Painter Johnson.  He lived most of his life in the Danville, VA and Providence, NC area where he was employed by Corning Glass until his retirement.  He was married to Rachel Pruitt Johnson who predeceased him in December 2020.

He is survived by his daughter Robin Shepheard (Davis) of Wendell, NC and his son Joel (Jennifer) of Providence; grandchildren Captain US Army Joshua Puccio, Sidney Frame (Justin), Seth Johnson (Triston) and Saige Cooke (Tanner); great grandchildren Easton Frame and Colton Johnson.

I’m addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased in death by his brother Danny Johnson.

He attended Gatewood Baptist Church and Union Church.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Schoolfield Cemetery with Dr. Tanner Cooke officiating.  The family will receive friends and family at his son Joel’s home, 2857 Seamster Rd, Providence, NC on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 11:00am-1:00pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
