James Edwin Hester

James Edwin Hester, age 80, of Blairs, VA, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hester was born on October 19, 1942, in Bladenboro, NC, a son of the late Edwin Lawson Hester and Ollie Pait Hester. He lived most of his life in Blairs where he was employed with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. until his retirement. Mr. Hester was married to Faye Adkins Hester for sixty years who survives and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robin Hester and Richard Hester; grandchildren, Kimberly Butler (Stephen), Christopher Agee (Miranda), Elise Arianna Hester, and Miracle Eve Hester; great grandchildren, Candyce Butler, Autumn Agee, Christian Agee and Kashton Butler; brothers, Earl Hester (Peggy) and Steven Hester (Kay); sister, Janice Packard (Willie), Julia Pait (Denny) and Frances Lee (Jerry).

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gordon Hester and Bobby Hester.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home with Reverend Earl Hester and Reverend Allen Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Schoolfield Cemetery.
