Janice Street

Ms. Janice Street, age 58, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at her residence.

Ms. Street was born on July 26, 1962, in Danville, to Ollie Eugene Street and Linda Ruth Betterton Meadows.

Janice was an incredibly special person with a big heart and loved by many people. Janice lived all her life in Danville, Virginia. She graduated from Dan River High School in 1980 and began working as a caregiver in 1980 and was a CNA for 39 years before becoming disabled with cancer. She loved going to Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church and loved to hear Pastor Mike Hearp preach. Janice loved her family and friends very deeply, as well as her pets.

Mrs. Street is survived by her birth mother, Linda Ruth Betterton Meadows; half-sisters, Donna Moser, Tabitha Critzer and Heather Beach; half-brothers, Danny Oliver, and Carl Oliver. She also leaves behind a special aunt and caregiver, Ruby Cook; caregiver, Russell Brown (Pee Wee), and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family would like to thank Donna Cobb, Janice’s caregiver for her kindness and hard work during their time of need.

Mrs. Street was predeceased by her father, Ollie Eugene Street; grandmother, (Mama) Maud Street and grandfather, (Papa) William (Bill) Street that raised Ms. Street since she was a baby; special aunt, Irene Hanks; grandmother, Mildred Long; half- brother, Tommy Oliver. Ms. Street was also predeceased by the love of her life, Julius Mathews (June Bug).

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 2 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Hearp officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
