Jasper "Jackie" Rust

Jasper (Jackie) Brack Rust, age 85, of Chatham, Virginia, passed away on Friday July 29, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Rust was born on November 19, 1936, in Ashe County, North Carolina, to the late George Rust Sr., and Rachel Wiles Rust.

Mr. Rust retired from Old Dominion University as a Television Systems Engineer and also served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Rust is survived by his siblings, twin brother Jerry Rust (Ginny), Irene Horsley (Ben), Nadara Kingery, and David Rust (Debbie); extended family members, Curtis Glasgow (Donna), Patsy Ann Gulihuer, and Jimmy Glasgow (Sue); and special friend Nancy Walliser; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Jasper was predeceased by his wife Shelby McAlister Rust; his infant girl, Linda Rust and son, Jasper “Jay” Rust Jr; and brother George Rust Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday August 2nd at 2 P.M. at Swicegood Funeral Home with Duane Blevins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Schoolfield Cemetery.
