Jerry Edward McCormick, age 70, of 150 Brantley Place, Danville, VA, died on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at his residence after a decline in health for the past six weeks.
Mr. McCormick was born on February 10, 1948, in Nassawadox, VA, the son of the late, Leland Edward McCormick and Linwood Hardy McCormick.
Before his retirement, Mr. McCormick was a dye house supervisor at Elastic Fabrics of America, and he was of the Christian faith. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. McCormick was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Virginia Lottery. He was always quick with a one-liner and he longed for his days in Chincoteague. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry McCormick recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Blackstock McCormick; daughter, Stephanie McCormick of Harrisonburg, VA; son, Jerry E. McCormick, Jr. and his wife, Lauren Simpson McCormick of Mechanicsville, VA; grandchildren, John Edward McCormick and Sean Patrick McCormick; sister, Joyce Carter and her husband, Sam of Concord, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p .m. on Monday, April 02, 2018 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Dr. Barry Webster officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Mark Pentecostal Holiness Church Fellowship Hall, 1201 South Boston Rd., Danville, Virginia, 24540.
