Joanne (Trail) Mitchell

Mrs. Joanne Trail Mitchell, age 73, of Danville, VA, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at SOVAH Health—Danville surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 05, 1949, in Danville, VA, to the late Ralph Trail and Martha Vernell Bowling Trail.

Joanne was a homemaker, and she was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. In her spare time she loved to watch television, while knitting, crocheting, and working puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Barbour; grandchildren, Joanna, Makayla, and Alexander Barbour; brother, Albert Trail and his wife, Beth; sister, Bonnie Hamlett; special daughter, Robin Gardner; special grandchildren, Meghan Rigney and Daniel and Jake Gardner; special friends, Idell Johnson and Roger Crews; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Earl “Pete” Hanson Mitchell; and brothers, Eugene and Cabell Wayne Trail.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Danville Memorial Gardens with Pastor Russell Mayhew officiating. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her daughter, Kim Barbour, 122 Pineview Drive, Danville, VA 24540.
