John Henry Hines Jr.

John Henry Hines, Jr., age 78 of 361 Vance Hill Road, Danville, VA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2023.  Born on October 5, 1945, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late John Henry Hines, Sr, and Garnett Davis Hines. He was married to Margaret Philpott Hines, the love of his life who is predeceased. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Eanes (Jeff Eanes) of Danville, Bonita Bowden of Yanceyville, NC; one son, John Henry Hines, III (Melissa Hines) of Dry Fork; four grandchildren, Jessica Crowder, Rachel Fuqua, Jonathan Bowden and Bailey Hines: five great grandchildren, Angel Crowder, Camden Pyron, Raelynn Fuqua, Kensley Fuqua, Reid Fuqua; one brother, Harvey Dwain Hines of Danville and one sister, Karen Mitchell of Danville. He is predeceased by one brother, Ronald Lewis Hines. His greatest companion later in life was his chihuahua, Badger.
He was employed with English Construction Company from April 1, 1963, until December 31, 2010. As a mechanical superintendent over Water & Waste Treatment Plants he traveled throughout Virginia and other states. He valued his relationships with those he worked with and considered them his extended family.  Also known for his faith in God, love for his family, a giving heart, and his wonderful sense of humor he will be truly missed by all.

The family will receive friends at Swicegood Funeral Home in Danville, VA on Sunday, October 29th from 2-4:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Swicegood Funeral Home on Monday, October 30th at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ronnie Pruitt officiating, internment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will also receive friends at 361 Vance Hill Road, Danville, VA.
