Linda Turner Obituary

Linda Worley Turner, 82, of Danville, VA went home to be with her Lord on May 17, 2023. She was born on May 1, 1941 in Pittsylvania County to the late Archie Worley and the late Naomi Collins Worley. She was predeceased by her loving husband Howard “Peewee” Turner on November 12, 1992. In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was predeceased by brothers Wayne Worley, John Worley; sisters Mildred Martin and Dorothy “Dot” Hubbard.

Linda graduated from Whitmell Farm Life School in 1959. She retired from Sears. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church. She loved her church and her church family.

To know her was to love her. Linda was a very kind, loving, caring, and thoughtful person. She enjoyed making people laugh. Though she was unable to have her own children, she made a lasting impact on many children. Linda and Peewee’s home was open to the neighborhood kids. She loved to cook for the kids who helped fill her home with joy, laughter, and love. Linda loved all things green, from her green nail polish to her green eyeshadow. She loved to shop; she enjoyed finding the perfect accessories to match her outfits. She loved flowers and working in her beautiful yard. She collected owls and angels. She loved music, especially listening to Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty. She enjoyed reading and watching soap operas. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.

She is survived by a special nephew Terry “Butch” Martin, special niece Wanda Hodnett along with numerous Worley nieces and nephews; adopted granddaughters Jacki Hearp, Jessi Murphy, and special friends Jeff and Cathy Chandler.

The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation for taking care of Linda.

Services will be on Sunday May 21, 2023. Visitation will be held at 1 pm followed by the funeral service at 2pm with Reverend David Turbyfill officiating. Interment to follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. Barker Funeral Home is respectfully serving the family.
