Mrs. Lona Carter, age 89, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at SOVAH Health in Danville.
Mrs. Carter was born on June 16, 1932, in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, to the late Charles Hensley and Ella Hall Hensley. She was a loving homemaker and was a member of Westover Church of God (Pathway Church) that her husband, Rev. Floyd Carter Sr. founded.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her children, Kathy Wilson (Ron), Donna Adkins, Floyd Carter, Jr. (Donna); grandchildren, Stephen Adkins, Lindsay Waller (Rusty), Amanda Adkins, Ryan Wilson (Sarah), Brandon Carter; great-grandchildren, Shawn Waller, Kaylee Waller, Diamond Kaake, Raelynn Waller; and sisters, Gracie Moon and Dora Brickell.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Carter, Sr. and siblings, Frank Hensley, Lester Hensley, Irene Herndon, Ruby Marshall.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 3 at 2PM at River Oak Church of God with Reverend Allen Roberson and Reverend Mike Hearp officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
