Lucy E. (Willard) Butts

Lucy E. Willard Butts, age 89, of Danville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at SOVAH-Danville.

Mrs. Butts was born on June 20, 1929, in Meadows of Dan, VA, a daughter of the late Edgar James Willard and Ada Schuff Willard. She lived most of her life in Danville where she was employed with Dan River Mills for 45 years. She was married to William Alfred Butts, Sr., who preceded her in death and was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Butts is survived by daughter, Joyce Phillips (Ronnie), of Emerald Isle, NC and Judy Badgett (Tommy)of Danville, VA; a son, William A. Butts, Jr., of Danville, VA; a brother, Henry R. Willard, of Danville, VA; sister, Cornelia Norton of Reidsville, NC; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Curtis, Cecil and Tiny Willard; and a sister, Margaret Willard.

A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Timberlake Baptist Church with the Reverend Walter Yancey officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at the church and at other times will be at her son’s residence, 405 Bennett St. Danville, VA.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Roman Eagle Activity Fund, 2526 North Main Street, Danville, VA, 24540.
