Marilyn McGuire Obituary

Marilyn C McGuire of Danville VA went to sleep in Jesus on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Sovah Health after a decline in health for several months. She was born on August 25, 1950, in South Boston, VA to the late Warren and Clara Mise Cassada. She worked for Dan River in the executive building and later for CIT Commercial Service for more than 20 years until 2009. She was happiest spending time with her family and spoiling all her fur babies. Marilyn was also a spirited sports fan when it came to Washington Redskins or the Atlanta Braves, and she had a strong love for her country. Most importantly as a lifetime member of Piney Forest Seventh Day Adventist Church, she loved her Jesus, and she was instrumental in planting the same seed in her children’s lives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved fur babies Baby Girl and Nemo. She is survived by her best friend and love Phillip Greene; daughters Kelly Fanin (Preston) of Keeling VA, Kari Brooks (Chris) of Ringgold VA, and son Eric McGuire of Danville VA. Grandchildren include Kennedy Farmer, Carter Fanin, Kyla Brooks, and Chase Brooks. She is also survived by sisters Sharon Lindsey (Charles) of Knoxville, TN; Cheryl Whitt (Harry) of Danville VA, and brother Melvin Cassada (Debra) of Providence, NC. Mom will be missed by her faithful companion chihuahua, Joey.

There will be a private celebration of life for family and friends at the Danville Seventh Day Adventist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in Mom’s name to the Pittsylvania County Pet Center
