Marjorie Marie was born on June 6, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the youngest daughter of Richard and Emma Phelps, who predeceased her. She is survived by children, John Wesley Booker, IV; Ramona Maie Booker; and Anita Murphy and husband, Richard, all of Danville, Virginia; granddaughter, Taylor Murphy; sister, Rita Smithey; and Brother Richard Jerry Phelps and wife, Brenda; sister-in-law Margaret “Bunny” Gabel and husband Dan Gabel of New York City, NY. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, John Wesley Booker, III; and brothers, Dewey, Fred, Bobby, and Buddy.
Marjorie loved working at Disston for almost 20 years. She was a hard worker who worked with speed and precision assembling grass shears and other lawn equipment. Later, when Taylor Grace was old enough to start school at Park Avenue Elementary, she went to work there in the cafeteria and enjoyed seeing Taylor every day.
Marjorie loved watching the birds at her bird feeders outside of her window, and seeing the wildlife that passed by in her backyard. Her beloved dog, Marley stayed by her side, until his passing. She enjoyed doing word search books and listening to her gospel music CD’s. She was a sweet and caring woman and the best Mama anyone could have. She will be missed and loved forever by her children, family, and friends.
