Mrs. Mildred Sours Collins, 91 beloved sister, aunt and friend passed away Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at Roman Eagle Health Care.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 2nd at 2 p.m., Concord United Methodist Church, Chatham, Va. Burial will follow at Mount View Cemetery, Danville. The family will receive friends starting at 1pm (an hour prior) to the service at Concord United Methodist Church. Masks are required and will be provided.
Mildred was born on October 8, 1929 in Chatham to the late Bernard and Gertrude Sours. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Clinton Sours, she was preceded in death by her husband William O. Collins, Jr., brothers James B. Sours, Eugene “Tommy” Sours, and sisters, Helen Bradner, Gaynelle Hey and Sarah Reynolds.
Mrs. Collins retired from Hardy Petroleum. During her working career she held many posts in ABWA Danville Charter Chapter. She was a member of Concord UMC, a church she attended as a child, having grown up nearby.
Mildred enjoyed taking care of her family and friends. She was always on the go. Painting, making baskets, crocheting and volunteering at Sovah Health were a few of her many interests.
She will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends whom she loved.
