Mildred "Midge" Virginia (Bowling) Simmons

Mrs. Mildred “Midge” Virginia Bowling Simmons, age 96, of Danville, VA, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Stratford Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

She was born on January 30, 1925, in Ferrum, VA, to the late Thomas Milton Bowling and Rosibet Spencer Bowling. Mrs. Simmons was predeceased by her husband, Horace M. Simmons, Jr.

Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and avid gardener. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Coyle and her husband, Daniel, of Ft. Wayne, IN and Jan Ashley-Sloan of Danville, VA; grandson, Zachary Simmons Coyle (Kelly); and great-grandchildren, Samuel, Molly, James, and Peter Coyle; and brother, Bill Bowling (Claudette).

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Simmons was predeceased by her siblings; Phillip; Carter; and Hilton Bowling; Millie Peters; Helen Peters; Claudine Inman; and Elva B. Sloan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Danville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Bob Yeaman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4401 Westover Dr, Danville, VA 24541.
