Our Lord called Neal to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 26, 2021. We are thankful and graced by the Lord and know he is safe with Jesus.
Neal was born on September 19, 1937, to Dewey E. Isom and Willie H. Isom. He was a graduate of George Washington High School, attended DCC College and Piedmont Tech College in Roxboro, NC. Neal was married to Alice Faye Carter Isom on August 3, 1957, who survives of the residence.
Neal was an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God of Cleveland, TN. At the age of 20, Neal was called into the ministry at River Bend Pentecostal Holiness Church. He founded three churches in his 64 years of ministry and pastored churches in Bennettsville, SC, Roanoke Rapids, NC and South Hill, VA, before moving back to Danville in 1969, to go into evangelistic work with the Church of God. Neal’s evangelistic work lasted 13 years. At that time, he was a State Evangelist and served on the State Evangelism and Home Missions Board in Roanoke, VA for 4 years.
He founded Christian Fellowship Center Church of God (Danville Christian Fellowship Church of God) in 1985, which is now located at 135 Winstead Dr. Danville, VA (previously located on 58 East near Danville airport). Neal pastored Full Gospel Fellowship (now White Oak Worship Center), associate pastor at Tree of Life (Blairs, VA) and Laurel Grove Baptist Church (Sutherlin, VA) during his ministry.
Neal is survived by his wife of 64 years, his three children, Keith Neal Isom (Cheryl), Sharon I. Bivens (Mike), Brian Anthony Isom (Jean); eight grandchildren, Keith Isom II (Susan), Angela Dobson (Robert), Alyssa Hines (Brad), Nathan Bivens (Caroline), Taylor Isom, Ian Black, Chase Isom and Natalie Bivens; three great grandchildren, Kathryn, Lucy, Brett, and one on the way. He is also survived by one brother Jack Clyde Isom (Lois) and two nieces and two nephews of Danville, VA.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Danville Christian Fellowship Church of God, 135 Winstead Dr. with Reverend Butch Robinson, Reverend Roger Ewing, Reverend Greg Roberson and Reverend Michael Bivens officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at White Oak Worship Center. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
“Well done thou good and faithful servant.” Neal wanted no accolades but our family wanted to honor him for his love of Jesus, God’s Word and seeing lost souls won for the Kingdom.
