Mr. Oscar Champ Giles, age 99, of Ringgold, VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.
Mr. Giles was born on April 23, 1920, in La Crosse, VA, to the late Munford Bland Giles and Nettie Lee Adams Giles Elliott.
Mr. Giles worked at Dan River Mills and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, since he was sixteen years old. He farmed for most of his life and loved riding his tractor. He also enjoyed hunting and selling produce. Mr. Giles served in the United States Army Air Forces. He served three years in the Fiji Islands. Mr. Giles was a member of American Legion Post 325 and VFW 647 58 West.
Mr. Giles married Edith Marie Gillie Giles on April 20, 1946.
He is survived by his loving wife Edith Marie G. Giles of the home; daughters, Judy Buntin (Watson) of Danville, Linda Carol Luck (Bobby) of Danville, Janice Giles (fiancé, Tony Setliff) of Ringgold and Kimberly Sally (Garey) of Danville; grandchild, Angela Hughes Frazier (Jody); and great-grandchildren, Zachary Brinkley, Kaitlyn Brinkley, Matthew Frazier, and Michael Frazier.
In addition to his parents Mr. Giles was predeceased by brothers, Thomas G. Giles, Frank Giles, and Rev. Woodrow Giles.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Carl Burger officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019.
Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the American Legion Post 1097.
