Rachel Gammon Obituary

Rachel Keesee Gammon, age 100, of Danville, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Roman Eagle Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Gammon was born on March 11, 1922, in Gretna, VA, a daughter of the late Samuel William Keesee and Lottie Carrie Love Keesee. After high school, she attended Lynchburg General Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. She lived most of her life in Danville where she was employed as a Registered Nurse with Danville Pediatric Clinic until her retirement. Mrs. Gammon was married to Robert Jackson Gammon who preceded her in death on June 13, 1978. She was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gammon is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Pvt. Lynn J. Gammon, four brothers, Curtis Keesee Sr., Joel Keesee, Gilmer Keesee and Morris Keesee; and six sisters, Ida Kilmon, Hallie Hardaway, Nora Bayliss, Beulah Barbour, Lucy Carwile and Doris Duncan.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Jonathan Hilliard officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be held in Mt. View Cemetery.
