Randy Demott Obituary

Randy DeMott, age 64, of Danville VA, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Riverside Healthcare and Rehab.

Mr. DeMott was born on September 26, 1956, in Danville, VA, a son of the late, William DeMott and Marie Reese DeMott. After high school, he went on to attend Danville Community College where he earned an Associates Degree in Accounting. During his time at DCC he became a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society and was recognized as an outstanding student on the Who’s Who Among Students in  American Junior Colleges. Randy enjoyed all of his Berkley friends and their reunions every year. He was a devout Christian and Genealogist. He took great pleasure in studying the Bible, genealogy, ancestry and DNA. Randy could quote Bible verses you and tell you exactly what family line you came from in the same sentence. Although Randy may have been paralyzed, God blessed Randy with the gift of wisdom. He was truly an amazing and fascinating person.

Randy is survived by his brothers, Billy DeMott (Ellen), Ray DeMott (Paula), and John DeMott (Becky Payne); sister, Kitty Minter (Rodger); by nine nieces and nephews and by his beloved dogs, Chloe and Jubile.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a step-sister, Jennifer Dillard McDonald.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his friends and neighbors Brenda Kingery and Venice Rocchi for their love and care. They would also like to thank all of his Facebook friends for their encouragement.

The spreading of his ashes will take place on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Schoolfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Kentuck Elementary School to support future education of children.
