Ricky M. Haley (Brooks)

Ricky M. Haley (Brooks), age 67, of Danville, VA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at his residence.  

He was born in Danville, VA on August 9, 1954 to the late Bennie Brooks and Nancy Guill Hastings.   

Ricky was a loader/operator for a local sawmill.  He served his country in the United States Army for three years as a paratrooper, during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Post 1097.  At one time during his life, Ricky had obtained his pilot’s license.

In addition to his parents, Ricky was predeceased by his brother, Michael Wayne Brooks. 

He is survived by his siblings, Benjamin Stuart Brooks (Kathy), of Chatham, Steven A. Brooks, Sr. (Amy) of Leasburg, NC, Kimberly B. Hamlett (Larry) of Milton, NC, and Kenneth D. Brooks (Lisa) of Blanch, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rusty Oliver officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Guill Family Cemetery on Lawless Creek Road in Blairs. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Ricky’s caregivers, his sister Kimberly Hamlett and her husband, Larry. Also, the family would like to extend a special thank you to his little Prayer Warriors, Jackson and Lilly-Ann Hamlett. In addition, the family would like to extend their gratitued to Timothy Sage for helping Ricky's caregivers during his brief illness.
