Ricky Wayne Hyler

Mr. Ricky Wayne Hyler, age 71, of Williamson Creek Road, Ruffin, North Carolina, passed away at Duke-Raleigh Hospital on Monday October 30, 2023.

Born August 25, 1952 to Martin and Gatrel Hyler of Cascade, Virginia, Ricky was the youngest of four.

Growing up he loved fishing on the family farm. As he got older he learned to also love Nascar, football, and music. You could find him most weekends with his lifelong friends, Gary Fench and Jerry McGuire.

He is survived by his son Scott (Beth) of Eden; his wife Janice East of the home and her children; Brian East (Tiffany), Craig East (Amanda), and Tonya East. Mr. Hyler is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler East, Livi Stanley, Destiny Stanley, Baily East, Isabella East, Justin East; as well as 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Martin Hyler, mother Gatrel Barber-Hyler, brothers ML Hyler and Smokey Hyler; his sister Joyce Hyler Corbin; and his nephew Larry Corbin.

Services for Ricky will be held at Swicegood Funeral Home Monday, November 13, 2023 from 3-5 PM. There will also be a memorial service and graveside service held at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00AM. Light refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall after the graveside services.
