Royce “Wayne” Ingram died peacefully at home on May 1, 2021, surrounded by family.
Wayne was born July 13, 1933 in Franklin County, Virginia, son to Thomas and Cora Ingram. A veteran, Wayne enlisted in the US Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1956 with the rank of Petty Officer, 3rd Class.
He was married to Alma Brummett Ingram from 1956 to her death in 2010. Wayne was employed by Lorillord Tobacco company until his retirement.
A lifelong resident of Danville, Wayne was an active member of Arlington Baptist Church and Vandola Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Marla Rehborn and husband Tracy of Lexington, SC, Wendy Shelton and husband Michael of Fairhope, AL, and Kimberly Snead and husband David of Chesapeake, VA. A devoted “Papa”, Wayne is survived by 6 grandchildren, Brantley and Cameron Rehborn, James and Charlie Shelton, Kelly Snead Thyng and husband Matt and Noah Snead. He also leaves behind many friends and neighbors who brought great joy to his life.
Wayne will be remembered for his love of a beautiful yard, growing tomatoes and watching sports. In the past, he was an avid golfer, fisherman and bowler. He and Alma spent much of their retirement bowling in a local league and traveling.
Wayne was laid to rest in Danville Memorial Gardens next to his beloved wife. A small private graveside service was held on Monday, May 03, 2021 for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 19, 138 American Legion Blvd, Danville, VA 24540 or to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541.
