Ruby (Bailey) Barber

Ruby Bailey Barber, age 86, of Providence, NC, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Sovah-Danville.

Mrs. Barber was born on October 24, 1934, in Danville, VA, a daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine Bailey. She lived most of her life in Danville and Providence where she was employed as a switchboard operator for Belk-Leggett until her retirement. Mrs. Barber had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Shady Oak Baptist Church. On June 27, 1953, she married Swanson Roosevelt Barber who survives of the residence.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Pamela Barber and Michael Barber and wife, Wanda; grandchildren, Dwayne Walker, Bryan Walker, Chasity Swann, Jessica Swann and Tommy Collins; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia White and Mildred Moorefield; brothers, Thomas Bailey and Fred Bailey.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Cathy Barber and by several brothers and sisters.

A private graveside service will be conducted in Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Danville Lifesaving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA, 24541.
