Shirley Jean Butts

Mrs. Shirley Jean Butts, age 84, of 3679 Foster Road, Yanceyville, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Butts was born on June 04, 1937, in Danville, Virginia, to the late William Theodore Raines and Ollie Brewer Raines. She lived most of her life in Yanceyville where she was a homemaker. Mrs. Butts was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Butts is survived by four children, Janice Lyles, Kenneth Butts and wife, Joyce, Richard Butts, Susan Newman; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Raines; and sisters, Evelyn Reed, Barbara Hamlett, and Vera Mae Paschale.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Butts was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Silas Malone Butts.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 18, at 11 AM at Swicegood Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Kent officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 17, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Floral Hill Memory Gardens. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence.
