Thomas James Barker Sr. age 82, an Air Force Veteran passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026 in Keeling Drive, Keeling, Virginia surrounded by love.

Born on February 7, 1943 in Chatham , Virginia to John Wesley Barker Sr. and Nora Wilson Barker. Tom lived a life defined not by noise or attention, but by quiet devotion, deep thoughtfulness, and a steady, loving presence. A private person, he valued sincerity over spotlight and connection over recognition.

Those who knew Tom understood that love was shown in gentle, meaningful ways — through listening without judgment, offering support without being asked, and remembering the small details that mattered most. His kindness was quiet but constant, and it left a lasting mark on the hearts of family and close friends.

Tom found joy in life’s simple comfort; watching his favorite sports football and Nascar , western movies, traveling and good food. More than anything, he cherished time spent with family, where his warmth and steady presence created a sense of safety and home.

Though not one to seek the center of attention, Tom was the heart of many quiet moments — a calm voice in difficult times, a thoughtful soul who reflected deeply, and a loving spirit whose care spoke louder than words ever could.

He is survived by his wife Hariet Anna Barker , stepdaughters Albeianne and Nicole Tesoro. Children Thomas Jr. (Tee), Andy and Luke Barker. His sisters Gaynell Perdue, Rita Williams, Faye Glass. Brother Gary Barker Sr. and his wife Dolores “ Dolly” Barker.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Wesley Sr. and Nora Wilson Barker; daughter Tracey Barker; brothers Eugene, Jackie and Samuel Barker; Sister Betty Maddox.

A service to honor Tom’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 2pm at Swicegood-Barker Funeral Chapel at 564 W. Main Street, Danville, VA 24541. Tom will be laid to rest with full military honors at the National Cemetery at 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144 on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 2:30pm..

Thomas James Barker Sr. will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the quiet spaces of the hearts that knew and loved Him.
