It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of Thomas “Boogie” Dalton on January 13, 2013 at Roman Eagle Nursing Home, previously of 239 Rocky Lane, Danville, Virginia. Boogie had been in declining health for the past few months. We are sad as we will miss him but rejoice that because of his faith in Jesus Christ, he is now with the Lord.
Boogie was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on October 17, 1937. He was predeceased by his parents Walter Witt and Margaret Stinnett and was adopted and raised by his grandparents Walter and Zina Dalton who were later deceased. He was also predeceased by his adopted sister, Everlyn Dalton, his two adopted brothers, Loren Dalton and Curtis Dalton and by his wife of 25 years, Ima Hankins Teague Dalton and a step-son Wallace Teague (Sandy).
He is survived by his step-daughters, Janet Hullender (Tim) and Joan Hicks (Jimmy – deceased), step-grandchildren Andy Hullender (Ellen), Alex Hullender (Nicole), Christy Hicks, Michael Hicks, Angela Gauldin, Lori Collins, Kelly Pruitt, Kimberly Joyce, Amy Teague, Wallace Teague. Jr. and 16 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his half-sister, Barbara Warwick, his nephew Bill Liberty (Betty) and niece Janice Rakes.
Boogie served in the Navy and was a member of the VFW Post 647. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing baseball and later playing golf at Glen Oak and Ringgold. But most recently he enjoyed attending church at The Tabernacle.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 12pm at Swicegood Funeral Home with Reverend Joey Bray officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors.
